Transient Exposures is an ongoing exploration of embodied affect through photography and movement.

For the photography session, the participant and the photographer meet in a previously designated space. The participant is invited to meditate on a topic of choice and bring a stimulus (object, text, music, etc.) related to their topic. The conversation aims to create a safe space for expression and trust. The following silent listening meditation focuses on being present to the moment and the impulses that may arise.

The second stage welcomes the participant to move with their present impulses and strip from clothes as much as they choose within an unrestricted time period in front of the camera. During this period, a series of long-exposure photographs are taken with the available light of the space. Participants are welcome to conclude their experience and movements at any time. It is possible that there may not be any photographs produced in the end; it will be a surprise for both the participant and the photographer.

If you are interested in participating, let’s have a conversation. Please fill out the questionnaire:

Images from the Transient Exposures were shown as a part of Auto-Chemistry exhibition at the Hollows, Brooklyn NY between June 3rd and 28th, 2015.
